The Austrian Pine (Pinus nigra) makes an excellent landscape specimen, as well as a windbreak or border tree.
The dark green needles are 4 to 6 inches in length.
Its growth habit is 8 to 12 inches per year, until the mature height of about 40 feet, and is very broad.
This tree does best in zones 4 to 8 and has a low temperature tolerance to -30F.
