Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) starts as a slender, pyramidal specimen, and matures to an open, round headed tree. Its glossy dark green leaves turn yellow, red, then russet brown in autumn.
This majestic tree is native to Eastern U.S. and has a moderate to rapid growth rate and can reach heights of 50 to 80 feet.
It is recommended that you plant it in an area which won't interfere with sidewalks, driveways, or street traffic, otherwise, it will require frequent trimming. This tree is fine for lawns.
It grows at a rate of 1 to 2 feet per year.
The Pin Oak is suited to zones 5 to 9 and has a low temperature tolerance to -20F.
